Kevin Miller studied at the Adelaide Conservatorium and Opera School, winning a scholarship to study in Rome and London. He joined Glyndebourne in 1955 and returned to Australia for the first season of the Elizabethan Opera Company.
After further performances at Glyndebourne he worked with Welsh National, Dublin Grand, Carl Rosa and Opera For All. He joined Sadler's Wells Opera in 1959, remaining with the company for a decade. During that period he sang in several operettas, including Orpheus in the Underworld, La belle Hélène, La vie Parisienne, Bluebeard , Die Fledermaus, The Gypsy Baron and The Merry Widow. Other parts included Vanya in Kátya Kabanová, Scaramuccio in Ariadne on Naxos, Incredibile in Andrea Chénier, Ramiro in Cinderella and Almaviva in The Barber of Seville.
He appeared in Scotland with Glyndebourne at the Edinburgh Festival, Carl Rosa Touring Opera and on several Sadler's Wells visits. Work with Scottish companies began with Ledlanet Nights (The Turn of the Screw, Bastien and Bastienne, Una cosa rara) and he also sang with Scottish Opera (The Marriage of Figaro).
