Russian tenor.
Oleg Biktimirov studied at the Astrakhan Conservatoire and began his career with the opera company at Rostov-on-Don. He was invited to move to the Bolshoi in 1979. One of his early roles was Ferrando (Così fan tutte), which led to parts in Ravel's L'Heure espagnole and Handel's Giulio Cesare. His repertoire soon included Shostakovich (Katerina Ismailova), Musorgsky (Simpleton in Boris Godunov), Rimsky-Korsakov (Astrologer in The Golden Cockerel, Devel in Christmas Eve), Prokofiev (Don Jerome in The Duenna), Rossini (Count Almaviva) and Wagner (Mime in Das Rheingold).
