Director.

Mark Hathaway directs and teaches acting  in the Opera and Vocal Performance departments at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. At the Conservatoire he has directed students in several programmes of opera scenes, as well as full-scale productions of Le nozze di Figaro, The Rape of Lucretia, L'incoronazione di Poppea and Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria.

On the Edinburgh Festival Fringe of 2012 he directed A Tapestry of Many Threads by Tom Cunningham and Alexander McCall Smith. This won a Herald Angel and was nominated for a Fringe First award.

He worked for several seasons with Scottish Opera. He was Assistant Director for Tim Albery's staging of Wagner's Ring Cycle (2000-2003). He also assisted on Don Giovanni, La traviata, Orfeo ed Euridice, Duke Bluebeard's Castle, The Death of Klinghoffer, and A Night at the Chinese Opera. During this period he also directed two operas for children, The Minotaur and The Mystic Maiden of Loch Katrine.
