English tenor.
John Perry sang as a child in the choir of Wells Cathedral, and went on to an extensive professional career. He appears to have been equally at home in lyric and dramatic parts - though touring orchestras tended to be much smaller than would be heard in large-scale works nowadays. Between the wars he appeared with both the Carl Rosa and O'Mara companies.
His brother, Fletcher Perry, moved to Dundee, where he worked as a customs officer and singing teacher while developing a good local reputation as an amateur baritone.
