Petre Munteanu Suggest updates

Moldovan tenor.

Petre Munteanu had an amazingly long career, still singing beautifully over half a century after his debut.

In 1948, making his first appearance with the Glyndebourne company at the Edinburgh Festival, he was an excellent Mozartian stylist, invited back for the following year's repeat.  His colleagues are a wonderful bunch of famous names.

By 2002 he was the long-serving head of the national opera of his native Moldova.  He was still able to lead them on extensive British tours under Ellen Kent's management, singing classic Italian roles including Canio and Cavaradossi.
