Before joining D'Oyly Carte, Cadwaladr spent some time with the Carl Rosa company, appearing in the January 1879 London season at Her Majesty's Theatre, when his roles included Baroncelli in the British premiere of Rienzi and Moralès in the English-language premiere of Carmen.
