In London, David Stout was previously Head Chorister at Westminster Abbey. He read Zoology at Durham University before returning to London to study Opera at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he was awarded the Principal's Prize.
His operatic appearances include Grange Park (Posa, Sancho Panza Don Quichotte); Opera North (Ruthven Murgatroyd Ruddigore); WNO (Gratiano The Merchant of Venice by André Tchaikovsky; Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Figaro Figaro Gets a Divorce); ENO (Figaro The Marriage of Figaro, Kothner).
Roles with Scottish Opera include Rossini (Bartolo); Puccini (Frank Edgar, Marcello); Mascagni (Renzo Silvano); Britten (Abbot Burning Fiery Furnace); Adams (Kissinger Nixon in China).
At the Wexford Festival he sang Count Douglas Guglielmo Ratcliff (Mascagni).
He has also worked with Mark Elder and the Hallé (Sandoval Le Duc d'Albe by Donizetti, Paolo Albiani, Falstaff, Donner); the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (Oromazes Zaïs by Rameau) and The English Concert (Aeneas Dido and Aeneas).
