English tenor.
Robert Murray studied in London, at the Royal College of Music and the National Opera Studio. He gained Second Prize in the 2003 Kathleen Ferrier Award before joining the Jette Parker Young Artist scheme at the Royal Opera House.
Roles during his period at Covent Garden included Tamino, Borsa, Gastone (La traviata), Harry (La fanciulla del West), Lysander, Agenore (Il re pastore), Jaquino and Don Ottavio. He made his debut with ENO as Luiz in The Gondoliers and with Glyndebourne on Tour as Albert Herring.
His first operatic appearance Scotland was as Flute, in a tour by the RCM. This was followed by the Young Servant in Elektra at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival.
He also has an important career as a concert singer and recitalist.
