Tenor and actor.
Paul Featherstone began working as a actor, spending time at the Glasgow Citizens, Edinburgh Royal Lyceum and Dundee Rep (where his roles included Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest). He then retrained as a singer in Glasgow at RSAMD, where he also taught drama.
With Scottish Opera he appeared in several operas including Salome, Der Rosenkavalier and La fanciulla del West. He sang with Edinburgh Grand - Michele in Menotti's The Saint of Bleecker Street and with Tayside Opera (Eisenstein, Ernani, Gustavus). Scottish tours with other companies included the Opera Group (Street Scene).
Other appearances include Paris (Châtelet), Barcelona (Liceu), Wexford Festival, Opera Holland Park, Grange Park and Garsington. He has covered roles with the Royal Opera.
Additional performances include New Sussex Opera (Menelaus La belle Hélène, Casimir & Lottery Director The Princess of Trébizonde); Opera della luna (Hoffmann, Mercury & Styx Orpheus in the Underworld, Rattlebone Croquefer, Cacatois & Rhomboid L'Ile de Tulipatan, Giraffier Les Deux Aveugles; Cox and Box).
He is Associate Director of the English Pocket Opera Company, which introduces opera to thousands of schoolchildren with workshops in schools and performances all over the UK including several at the Royal Albert Hall. There is also an ongoing schools project in Mostar (Herzegovina).
