Mezzo-soprano.
Cécile van de Sant studied at the Sweelinck Conservatory, then in New York and in Amsteerdam (at the International Opera Centre).
Her operatic appearances include the Göttingen Handel Festival (Tauride in Arianna in Creta, Unulfo in Rodelinda, Goffredo in Rinaldo); Utrecht (Tamerlano, Gualtiero in Bononcini's Griselda); Amsterdam (Tamerlano); Munich (Messagiera in Orfeo); Nationale Reisopera (Messagiera, Olga in Eugene Onegin); Kaiserslautern (title role in La cenerentola); Opéra National de Paris (Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte); and Barcelona (Speranza in Orfeo). Concert performances of opera include Geneviève in Pelléas et Mélisande with the Limburg Symphony and Kate in Owen Wingrave at the Concertgebouw.
Appearances in the British Isles began with Opera Ireland (Cornelia in Giulio Cesare) and Opera North (Olga). Her Scottish Opera debut was as Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice.
