English soprano.

Catherine Stephens was one of the most notable British singers of her age. After training in London she sang small roles at the Pantheon in 1812. She made her first appearance at Covent Garden the following season. Her first role was Mandane in Arne's Artaxerxes, which still retained its popularity. She continued to work regularly at Covent Garden over the next decade and then transferred to Drury Lane.

She retired from the stage in 1838, following her marriage to the Earl of Essex.
