James Burton is a graduate of St John's College, Cambridge, and has a Masters in conducting from the Peabody Conservatory. He has since worked with leading opera companies including the Met, ENO, Opéra National de Paris, and Garsington, where he was the recipient of the Leonard Ingrams Award in 2008.  He made his debut for ENO with Don Giovanni, and recent productions have included The Magic Flute for Garsington and the national tour of Bernstein's Wonderful Town.  He has conducted orchestras including  the OAE, Hallé, RLPO and Oxford Philomusica. He is also Music Director of the St Endellion Easter Festival and Schola Cantorum of Oxford.
