South African baritone.
Jacques Imbrailo studied law and music in South Africa before further post-graduate training in London from 2003, at the Royal College of Music under Ryland Davies. He represented South Africa in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition of 2007, winning the Audience Prize. Joining the Jette Parker programme at Covent Garden (2006-8), he performed a range of roles including Moralès, Marullo, Owen Wingrave, Demetrius, Malatesta, Schaunard, Count Almaviva and Trombonok in Il viaggio a Rheims.
His debut at Glyndebourne in 2010 was in the title role of a new production of Billy Budd. On the Glyndebourne Tour he sang Guglielmo, repeating the role with Opera North. With Welsh National he has sung Rossini's Figaro and Mozart's Count Almaviva.
In the United States he sang Tarquinius in Houston and Guglielmo with Opera Colorado.
