Anthony Flaum originally studied Business and German at the University of Nottingham, and worked in finance and rnarketing. Following studies in London at the Royal Academy of Music. where he graduated with distinction in Musical Theatre, he attended the National Opera Studio in 2012/13. There he was awarded the Nicholas John Fellowship. He continued his studies with Ryland Davies.
Operatic engagements in the UK include Northern Ireland Opera (Nemorino); Grange Park Opera (Lensky, Tchekalinsky The Queen of Spades, Motel Fiddler on the Roof, Tybalt Roméo et Juliette); Opera della Luna (Raoul de Gardefeu La vie Parisienne, Pluto Orpheus in the Underworld); OperaUpClose (Rodolfo, Don Ottavio, Don José, Lensky); Pimlico Opera (Jean Valjean Les Misérables); Opera Project (Henrik A Little Night Music); Nevill Holt Opera (Nemorino); Iford Arts (Pinkerton, Rodolfo); Mid Wales Opera (Gonzalve L'heure espagnole); West Green House Opera (Scaramuccio Ariadne auf Naxos); New Sussex Opera (Paris La belle Hélène, Tremolini The Princess of Trébizonde).
In Scotland he has appeared with Scottish Opera (Macduff) and at the Edinburgh Festival (Soldier The Soldier's Tale). He has also toured to Scotland with OperaUpClose.
Concert appearances include several BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, including Fiddler on the Roof and appearances with the RPO and BBC Concert Orchestra.
At the 2021 Grange Festival he appeared as Edgar in Shakespeare's King Lear alongside Sir John Tomlinson (Lear) and Sir Thomas Allen (Gloucester), directed by Keith Warner.
