Rachel Hynes Suggest updates

Welsh soprano.

Rachel Hynes studied music in Leeds at University College, Bretton Hall. She then trained at the RSAMD with Patricia Hay before joining the chorus of Scottish Opera in 1997, becoming a company Principal in 2000. Roles with them during that period included Giannetta (L'elisir d'amore), Fiordiligi, First Lady, and Mimï. Her Edinburgh Festival appearances include Anna in a concert performance of Maria Stuarda under Sir Charles Mackerras, as well as the Scottish Opera Edinburgh Festival Ring Cycles in which she appeared as Freia, Helmwige and Third Norn. She has sung Denise in The Knot Garden with Scottish Opera, at a concert performance in London, and in Tuscany at the Montepulciano Festival. Her Opera North debut was as Ellen Orford. In London she also created the role of Clara in PUSH! by David Bruce.
