Died London, 27 March 1975.

English composer and conductor.

Sir Arthur Bliss produced some interestingly modern music between the wars in a number of areas - including A Colour Symphony (orchestral), Miracle in the Gorbals (ballet) and Morning Heroes (choral). He turned to opera in 1949, with The Olympians, followed by an opera for television, Tobias and the Angel. He was Master of the Queen's Music for a number of years.
