Born Bologna 1800.
Died London, 12 September 1846.
Italian composer and conductor.
Vincenzo Gabussi had a successful career as a composer of songs, but his operas were less distinguished. He studied in Bologna and moved to London in 1825, working at the King's Theatre and gaining an excellent reputation as a teacher of singing and piano.
On the visit of the company to Edinburgh at the end of 1827 he is described as conducting from the pianoforte, while the orchestra is led by Mr Yaniewicz and the Chorus is directed by Signor Gubbi.
A tenor, known only as Signor Gabussi, toured the UK as a member of Mr Beale's Italian Opera Company (1855-57) singing short roles. This seems likely to have been a son resident in Britain.
