Erika Grimaldi studied in Turin at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, winning the Comunità Europea Competition in 2008. She was quickly engaged by the Teatro Regio, Turin, making her debut as Mimì. Since then, her roles at Turin have included Mozart (Countess Almaviva, Donna Anna), Cimarosa (Elisetta Il matrimonio segreto), Rossini (Mathilde Guillaume Tell), Verdi (Amelia Grimaldi, Desdemona, Alice Ford), Bizet (Micaëla), Puccini (Mimì, Liù), Leoncavallo (Nedda) and Casella (Armilla La donna serpente).
Elsewhere in Italy she has appeared at La Scala Milan (Giovanna d'Arco), Naples (Mimì), Rome (Anaï Moïse et Pharaon), Cagliari (Micaëla), Verona (Adina) and Palermo (Pamina).
Outside Italy she has worked at San Francisco (Mimì, Micaëla), Hamburg (Fiorilla Il turco in Italia), Berlin Deutsche Oper (Nedda), Munich (Mathilde), Hong Kong (Amelia), Mexico City (Donna Anna), Savonlinna (Mimì), Verbier (Alice Ford), Avenches (Donna Anna), Oviedo (Mimì). She sang Beethoven's 9th Symphony in New York.
Her first appearance in the UK was in a Verdi Requiem with Gianandrea Noseda and the London Symphony Orchestra. She repeated that work as well as Mimì with Noseda at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival.
