Gwyn Hughes Jones studied in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He has appeared with most of the British companies, including:-   Welsh National Opera:  Beethoven (Florestan);  Verdi (Duke of Mantua, Manrico, Gustavus, Don Alvaro, Fenton);  Gounod (Faust);  Bizet (Don José);  Leoncavallo (Canio);  Mascagni (Turiddu)  and  Puccini (Cavaradossi).

With the Royal Opera:  Verdi (Macduff),  Wagner (Walther von Stolzing) and  Puccini (Pinkerton).   ENO:  Verdi (Radamès)  and  Puccini (Rodolfo, Cavaradossi, Pinkerton, Calaf).

With Scottish Opera he has sung Verdi (Manrico) and Puccini (Cavaradossi).

At the New York Met his appearances include Verdi (Ismaele, Manrico, Fenton)  and Puccini (Pinkerton).  At Chicago:  Verdi (Fenton);  and Puccini (Rodolfo).  Washington:  Puccini (Pinkerton).  Los Angeles:  Puccini (Cavaradossi);  San Francisco:  Verdi (Ismaelle),  Puccini (Rodolfo);  Santa Fe:  Puccini (Rodolfo).

In Europe he has sung in Paris (Opéra National):  Verdi (Ismaele) and  Lehár (Camille).  Brussels:  Verdi (Fenton).  Dublin:  Verdi (Radamès).  Madrid (Escorial Festival):  Puccini (Pinkerton);  Savonlinna:  Puccini (Des Grieux).

He has also appeared in concert with many of the world's major orchestras and was a soloist at the opening ceremony of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
