Luciano Fornasari Suggest updates

Signor Fornasari.

Born c 1815.

Died after 1850.

Italian bass-baritone.

Luciano Fornasari was a tall and handsome figure, as well as an excellent dramatic actor. His actual singing voice and vocal technique seem to have met with less approval. He was a popular Don Giovanni, and sang leading roles in several of the operas of the bel canto school. In London he was also noted for appearing in the first British performances of both Nabucco and I Lombardi.

He made his debut in Milan (1831) before making his way to the USA. Appearances there included the American premiere of L'italiana in Algeri (New York 1832).
