Jacob Robson is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music under Thomas Schulze. His operatic debut was with Newcastle Area Chamber Opera where he sang the title role in Hans Krasa's Brundibár. Recently, Jacob has worked with conductors including Sir Mark Elder CBE (Hallé Orchestra), Andrew Greenwood (Royal Opera House, Welsh National Opera) and Benjamin Zander (Boston Philharmonic Orchestra). He was featured in the Samling Foundation's inaugural Academy project, singing the role of Mr Gedge, the vicar in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring, and has also sang in masterclasses with Malcolm Martineau, Graeme Danby, Jamie Macdougall, Lorna Anderson and James Baillieu. In the summer of 2014, Jacob sang the role of Samuel in Pirates of Penzance with Rocket Opera at Berwick Festival Opera, and began working with British Youth Opera.
Jacob was the first, and currently only singer to have won the Avison Ensemble Young Musician of the Year award and was named Singer of the Year at the Ryton and District Music Festival in 2012.
