Alex Lowde read Drama at the University of Hull before training on the Motley Theatre Design course in London.
Operatic design work includes Scottish Opera (The Adventures of Mr Brouček, Greek), Opera North (Mr Brouček), ROH2/The Opera Group (The Lion's Face, The Nose), Wexford (Rigoletto).
He has designed for Scottish theatre companies, including Edinburgh Lyceum (A Christmas Carol, Takin' Over the Asylum, The Marriage of Figaro) and Dundee Rep (August Osage County, The Glass Menagerie, Anna Karenina, Beauty and the Beast, She Town, A Doll's House, The Elephant Man, Equus). Also at the Traverse Edinburgh (While You Lie) and Scottish Dance Theatre (Innocence).
Elsewhere in the UK he has designed for West Yorkshire Playhouse Leeds (MThe Fall of the Master Builder); Royal Exchange Manchester (Persuasion); Headlong/WYP (Pygmalion); Lyric Theatre Belfast (Three Sisters); Royal Court (Linda); Young Vic London (Dutchman, Victoria Station/One for the Road, Tobias and the Angel); Almeida (Game); Shakespeare's Globe ('Tis Pity She's a Whore); National Theatre (Edward ll); Sheffield (Krapp's Last Tape); WYP (Enjoy).
In Denmark he has designed at Aarhus (Miss Julie).
