Clifford William Morton.

Died South Africa, 5 March 1976.

English tenor.

According to family sources (his granddaughter Ruth Bourne), Clifford Morton took up singing as a professional in the face of family opposition. He joined Carl Rosa in 1943, singing short roles under the name Cliff Morton. In 1944 he altered his stage name, and sang thereafter as Morton Clifford. His roles under that name eventually included both Turiddu and Canio.
