Andrew Greenan studied at the University of Cambridge and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
He has appeared frequently with ENO, as Timur (Turandot), Don Fernando (Fidelio), Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Hermit (Der Freischütz), Gremin (Eugene Onegin) and Zaccaria (Nabucco). Work at the Royal Opera includes Pietro in Simon Boccanegra, Crespel in The Tales of Hoffmann and Schwarz in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. He has also sung Count Harasov in The Jacobin (Buxton Festival) and Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger (a concert performance at Saffron Hall, Saffron Walden).
His European credits include Schoenberg's Die Glückliche Hand (La Scala Milan), Swallow in Peter Grimes (Hamburg), Waldner in Arabella (Paris Chatelet), Biterolf in Tannhãuser (Brussels) and King Mark in Tristan und Isolde (Oviedo). Further recent engagements include Angelotti in Tosca, Police Commissar in Der Rosenkavalier and Priest/ Old Convict in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Vlaamse Opera, Antwerp).
In the United States he has sung Cecil in Maria Stuarda (San Diego), Nightwatchman in Die Meistersinger (San Francisco), and Heinrich in Lohengrin (New York Met),
His commercial recordings include Bonze in Stravinsky's The Nightingale (for the Musicmasters label), Tiresias in Oedipus Rex (Naxos) and First Sentry in Les Troyens (LSO Live).
