Moldovan director.

Mihai Timofti graduated as a stage director from the Moldovan Arts Academy in Chisinau, and later trained in St Petersburg at the Rimsky-Korsakov Arts Academy. From 1971 he worked as a director for Moldova Film for ten years.

His opera productions include St Petersburg Opera Studio (Il trovatore, Manon Lescaut), elsewhere in Russia (The Merry Widow, Dorothea), Romania (Mademoiselle Nittush), and Chisinau (Lucia di Lammermoor).
