Ernst Krukowski trained at the Musikhochschule, Cologne and made his debut at Bremen 1939. He was contracted with several opera companies, including 1947-9 Göttingen; 1949-51 Saarbrücken, and 1951-3 Basel. From then he was based in Berlin at the Deutsche Oper, and it was with them that he visited the 1975 Edinburgh Festival.
He made guest appearances with several major houses, including Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne and Vienna. In 1963 he sang at the Bayreuth Festival (Foltz Die Meistersinger).
