German director and designer.

Wieland Wagner was the son of Siegfried and grandson of Richard and Cosima. He was also the brother of the longer-lived Wolfgang. Wieland's novel approach to direction and design of operas, not just by Wagner, set a standard that dominated staging in the decades after the war.
