Josephte Clément Suggest updates

Canadian mezzo-soprano.

Josephte Clément studied at the University of Montreal, before moving to Britain in 1965.  She joined the Scottish group of Opera For All, touring widely in parts such as Suzuki, Dorabella and Cenerentola.  Her debut with the main company was in 1967, as Flosshilde, the deepest-voiced of the Rhinemaidens in Das Rheingold

Clément later sang Rossini's Cenerentola and Mozart's Second Lady with the main company.  Her voice was also able to take on some dramatic coloratura soprano parts such as Alcina and Donna Anna.

During this period Clément recorded brief roles in three complete opera recordings conducted by Richard Bonynge with Joan Sutherland.  These are Rose in Lakmé, a lady-in-waiting in Les Huguenots (the other lady being sung by a young Kiri Te Kanawa) and the Page in Rigoletto.
