Michael Rosewell and James Conway produced a fiercely dramatic version of Jenůfa using an excellent reduction of the score by Tony Burke. The fast maturing soprano Amanda Echalaz dominated proceedings with her performance of the title role. Indeed the women were all good, with Linda Hibberd launching the evening strongly and Jennifer Rhys-Davies also a dominant figure.
