First performances in Scotland. The cast given is as reviewed at the Edinburgh Lyceum. Back in 1892, when the composer was very much alive, and already recognized as one of the greats, his operas were unknown in Britain. This was when Moody and Manners first sang their roles in the British premiere of Onegin, in London. Their conductor on that occasion was a young Henry Wood.
