Strathclyde branch Study Day on Saturday 2 March concerns The Flying Dutchman and will be led by noted musicologist and Wagnerian Derek Watson. Held in Scottish Opera's headquarters, Elmbank Crescent, Glasgow from 10.30am to around 3.30pm. Tickets cost £22.50 which includes a soup and sandwich lunch and a glass of wine/soft drink, and should be booked directly with Mrs Anne Higgine, Friends of Scottish Opera 39 Elmbank Crescent, Glasgow G2 4PT telephone 0141 242 0599 (office hours) by the Monday preceding each Study Day.
Tayside branch are meeting on Friday 8 March at 7.30 to hear Scottish Opera's stage manager , John Duncan on Managing the Stage. Then on Friday 22 March at 7.30 the branch meets to hear Writs at the Savoy, or a Judge tries Gilbert and Sullivan by Douglas Risk.
Both meetings take place in the Common Room, Chaplaincy Centre, Dundee University.
