Before the concert, why not listen to a sound discussion between Barry Millington and composer  John Casken at 12.15?

Counterpoise is a new ensemble of some of the most sought-after instrumentalists in the UK founded with the aim of crossing genres, exploring the relationship between music, text and visuals, and seeking to develop aspects of narrative and other extra musical influences.  The works in ths concert - the dystopian vision of Gruber's  Expulsion from Paradise and the corruption of values in John Casken's Deadly Pleasures - reflect a sense of the malaise in modern society.

Alexandra Wood (violin), Deborah Calland (trumpet) Kyle Horch (saxophone) Iain Farrington (piano) Donald Maxwell (baritone)
