Read more about the opera No Song, No Supper

Described on the playbill as an operetta, No Song, No Supper was, on this occasion, the curtain-raiser for a pantomime, Prometheus and Pandora. The evening was completed by the popular short Scottish drama, Cramond Brig.

As was then customary, several popular songs were inserted among Storace's own melodies. Mr Barker, in the role of Frederick, sang Black Eyed Susan. Miss Hyland, as the heroine, Margaretta, while impersonating a ballad-singer as part of the plot, gave three other items;  With Lowly Suit and Plaintive Ditty, Across the Downs this Morning, and The Minstrel Boy.
