This two week season by D'Oyly Carte, opening on 15 September, still included a fair spread of the company's repertoire. The sets and costumes for Pirates, dating back to the thirties, were among the oldest still being used. Donald Adams and Valerie Masterson had moved on from D'Oyly Carte to the next stage of their careers, though they always maintained a toe in the G & S waters thereafter.
