Read more about the opera Sorcerer

This tour saw the week divided into two sections, with The Sorcerer (Thu, Fri, Sat), in repertoire with HMS Pinafore. (Mon, Tue, Wed).

The curtain raiser performed each evening was In the Sulks, a Musical Burletta, first performed at the Opera-Comique, London, on 21 February 1880. Words: Frank Desprez. Music: Alfred Cellier.

At the Dundee Theatre Royal:

Prices: Private Boxes Two Guineas each

Centre Boxes 4/-; Side Boxes 2/6;

Pit 1/-; Gallery 6d.

Doors Open at 7. Starts at 7.30 (Saturdays at 7).

The cast is taken from The Comet in the Lamb Collection 253 (5) of Dundee City Library. One oddity of casting, which may be a typographical error in the programme, is the indication that Mr J Lehay played the romantic lead, Alexis, in The Sorcerer, while in the same week taking the character role of Sir Joseph in Pinafore. This needs to be clarified by reference to reports from other venues.

Other Scottish dates to be confirmed.
