Schubert's little singspiel was completely unknown in Scotland, and the critic of the Glasgow Evening Times was extremely enthusiastic about it, without giving much detail. This was the first part of a fascinating double-bill, in which the Schubert was followed by the British premiere of Berlioz's Beatrice and Benedick.
