The 1873 visit of the Italian Opera to Edinburgh lasted for nine nights from 13th to 22nd March.
The repertoire was: Thu 13 Lucia di Lammermoor; Fri 14 Don Giovanni; Sat 15 Oberon; Mon 17 Les Huguenots; Tue 15 Il Trovatore; Wed 19 Der Freischütz; Thu 20 La Favorita; Fri 21 Il Flauto Magico; Sat 22 Benefit of Mdlle Titiens (as she was styled in the publicity).
This Lucia cast is notable for the presence of Pietro Mongini, a couple of years after he created the role of Radamès in Aida. Ilma di Murska also had an important career, including visits to New York.
