Dr Chris Gray on 'Wagner, the Father of modern conducting philosophy'.
"My interest in Wagner has spanned my entire conducting life, having played his works as a young double bass payer, experiencing the Meistersinger overture at the age of 16, and then taking part in the adventures of the Ring cycle at Scottish Opera and Lohengrin under the BBC SSO some years later. As a conductor I have had the opportunity to explore some of these works with both amateur and professional orchestras."
Chris Gray is currently Depute Head of Music at the University of Aberdeen and also works in Glasgow, where he is Director of Connect, Scottish Opera's youth company.
