Borderline was probably the leading Scottish touring theatre company, with a record going back over thirty years, in which it regularly produced high-quality drama, both new work and classics.
Music Theatre also featured from time to time, and on this occasion an excellent cast of singing actors was assembled. None were then household names, though the talent of performers such as Phyllis Logan and Gregor Fisher would not be concealed for long. Juliet Cadzow and Ron Donachie also had prominent careers in future.
Ann Louise Ross and Neil Murray would both return to the piece before the decade was out, in a more sophisticated staging at Dundee Rep.
