Derek Watson, the well-known lecturer and writer on opera, leads three weekend courses on operas by Richard Strauss in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of his birth.
Guntram and Feursnot Friday 11 to Monday 14 April (three nights)
Arabella Thursday 19 June to Sunday 22 June (three nights)
Friedenstag and Daphne Friday 10 October to Tuesday 14 October (four nights)
The operas will be analysed using the text, piano illustrations, visual material and film. There is no requirement to read music, but on booking you will be sent details of available scores.
Accommodation is in spacious en-suite double, twin or family-sized bedrooms with disabled access. The venue, Gartmore House in the Trossachs, Stirling, is best reached by car, but those booking can be met at Stirling by arrangement.
Each study weekend begins with an introductory evening session on the first given date, and disperses after breakfast on the last day.
