Introducing Opera's second term will cover Don Pasquale, Prince Igor and Rusalka. The 150th anniversary of the birth of Richard Strauss will also be marked by a survey of his fifteen operas.
Lectures are informal, designed both for newcomers to opera and for regular opera-goers wishing to re-acquaint themselves with details. These talks are illustrated with piano, recordings, visual material and DVD extracts.
The course tutor is Derek Watson; the venue is the wonderful drawing-room of the Edinburgh Society of Musicians, 3 Belford Road near the Dean Bridge, ten minutes' walk from Princes Street. It is within a short walk of several bus routes and not far from Haymarket Station. The evenings begin at 7pm and normally finish by 9.15. There is ample free parking nearby.
Please note the meeting venue is up a flight of stairs and there is unfortunately no disabled access.
Refreshments are available. For more information contact Derek Watson on 01968 660339 or e-mail derek@lintonbooks.plus.com
