Read more about the opera Turandot

An elegantly simple production imported from Japan, with much emphasis on dance, gave an unusual slant to Puccini's final drama. Vocally things were generally excellent, especially in the case of Liù and Timur. The Turandot herself had the big voice required, if without much subtlety of projection when her voice ideally should melt. The RSNO rarely finds its way into the pit of an opera house nowadays, and Turandot was never in the Scottish Opera repertoire when the band did play opera regularly, so this was new territory for them.
