One or two gimmicks aside, this production worked well, and the young singers coped with most of the vocal difficulties without showing the strain. Lorina Gore, an excellent young soprano, having returned to Australia after training in London, would soon appear at the Edinburgh Festival in Bliss. It was good to see veteran baritone Richard Jackson, a rare visitor to Scotland, showing his class even in this spoken role.
