Here, a company with a thriving chorus and access to good dancers may have gone out on a limb to produce a Scottish premiere for Borodin's unfinished epic. The company was even strong enough to provide two casts of principals. The director was an influential Edinburgh resident in the form of retired Carl Rosa baritone Hebden Foster.
