To celebrate fifty years of activity, the Haddo Society had mounted Otello, with long-term director Charles Barron doing his last show, and June Gordon conducting her second last.
The sixtieth birthday could hardly have been more different. Not only did they present Die Fledermaus, bringing in leading cellist William Conway to conduct it, but also Peter Mulloy, driving force behind the new Carl Rosa company, to direct and design. Indeed there were elements of co-production here, with some Carl Rosa regulars in the cast.
The local contingent was led by the now well-established baritone David Stephenson in the title role.
