Every year, trainees at the National Opera Studio in London decamp to one of the national companies to perform a programme of staged scenes. The host company in 2015 is Scottish Opera.
Ten singers are to be put through their paces by Scottish Opera Director of Artistic Planning Elaine Kidd who will direct them on the set of the Company's production of Gluck's Orfeo ed Eurydice. The Orchestra of Scottish Opera will be conducted by the Head of Music Derek Clark.
Scenes from operas by Mozart and tchaikovsky will be included, and one of the singers witll be Mezzo-sopranoHeather Lowe, who covered the role of 2nd withc in the Company's recent production of ~verdi's macbeth.
