Brand new professional opera company, VoiceArc, presented their debut production, Le Nozze di Figaro.
Director Nell Drew's imaginative adaptation aimed to mix traditional and classic with the edgy and contemporary. It was set in a seedy Edinburgh underworld, featuring a host of insalubrious characters including hit men, lap dancers, escorts and ageing madams. In the event, the production seemed under-rehearsed. However VoiceArc's production is a promising debut, involving talented young professional musicians from across Europe under the expert and sensitive baton of George Wilson, the well-known Scottish musician and composer.
