Ballo is the Verdi opera most frequently chosen by Tayside, and this third staging was as good as the previous two had been, with consistently strong musical contributions. The evening centered on an excellent performance of Gustavus by the company's regular guest tenor, Paul Featherstone. Alison McDonald, having sung Oscar at the previous run a dozen years before, now took the rather more vocally dramatic role of Amelia.
