Read more about the opera Bitter Sweet

Bitter Sweet here is played as the second piece in the week's repertoire, alternating with the world premiere of Maid Marian by the recently deceased Colin Macleod Campbell. The imported professional tenor, Coward's work was relatively unfashionable at this time, seeming old-fashioned, with its charms faded. More recently it has been shown to hold the stage quite well.

Lead tenor Kenneth Macdonald was singing every performance, alternating the roles of Carl and Robin Hood.
