Three performances were given of Carmen during this week, while the other piece performed, Goring Thomas's Esmeralda, received four. Several of the artists sang at all seven performances, though only Escamillo among the major roles was taken by someone who also appeared in the other opera.

The stage director, Mr E C Hedmondt, had sung Don José many times with Carl Rosa and elsewhere during his career, though he was perhaps on less familiar territory with Esmeralda.
